I am a 23-year-old artist living near Greater London. Having studied BA Illustration at London College of Communication, UAL, I graduated in 2016 with upper second-class honours. I work primarily in oil and find great inspiration in the work of Freud, Bacon, Giacometti and the Abstract Expressionists, along with such contemporary painters as Justin Mortimer, Ruprecht von Kaufmann and Adrian Ghenie.
My work is rooted in an enduring desire to explore the relationships we enact, both with ourselves and with others. Many of my paintings examine confusion, tension and a feeling of disconnection from many aspects of a quotidian life. The work often expresses a lack of understanding; a feeling of disassociation stemming from the notion that one does not have the correct information to comprehend or to fully interpret nuances of life and human behaviour. Developed by truncating and distorting various familiar images, the paintings result in an unsettling take on the human form and the traditional painted portrait.
